Hub Collins Street
Clocktower Apartment Hotel is this spot on Lygon Street in Melbourne where people stay when they want something simple and not too hotel-ish. The whole area smells like food most of the time because there are restaurants everywhere, and honestly that’s half the fun. You can walk to the city center in like, not long at all, so you don’t feel stuck far away from anything.
The rooms here feel kind of like little apartments someone would actually live in. Not perfect, not overly designed, just… normal. They’ve got one-bedroom and two-bedroom places, depending on how many humans you’re dragging along. Some rooms are older with that “lived in” personality, and some look like they were redone recently with cleaner lines and newer stuff.
Inside you get a kitchen, which is great if you’re tired of eating out or just want to make something quick. There’s a washer and dryer too, which weirdly always ends up being useful even if you think you won’t need it. Beds are comfy enough, water pressure is decent (super important), and the internet works fine for everyday stuff. They leave basic toiletries and slippers — small things, but nice.
It’s good for both short stays and longer ones. They’re also okay with dogs, which honestly makes any place feel more relaxed. There’s parking if you need it, though you have to arrange it. They try to be a bit environmentally friendly with solar power and simple things like not washing linens every five seconds.
The staff seem genuinely friendly — not the forced “hotel smile.” If you need help, they usually sort you out without making it complicated. Overall it’s a comfortable, easy place in a busy, food-filled part of Melbourne. Not fancy, just solid.
